  2. The indispensable tool to process Windows icons

  5. INTRODUCTION
  6. ------------
  7. Icons Control 2000 is designed to display as many icons/images as 
  8. possible as thumbnails in a resizable windows for quick browsing. 
  9. Icons/images can be copied, renamed, moved, and erased with a 
  10. click of the mouse.  Icons Control 2000 can even display and print 
  11. icons embedded inside ICL, DLL, or EXE files. Displayed icons can 
  12. be edited, converted to bitmaps, or extracted to ICO format (in 
  13. the DLL or EXE viewing mode).  The software is capable of 
  14. creating DLLs from ICOs to optimize the use of disk space.  In 
  15. addition, you can convert from more than 50 image file formats 
  16. including BMP, WMF, JPG, TIF, PNG, PCD, FPX, EPS, WPG, FAX, ICA, 
  17. MAC, MSP, PCT, PCX, PSD, RAS, TGA to ICO with a single mouse click. 
  18. Conversion and extraction can be done in batch mode, thus saving 
  19. considerable time for those of you with large number of icons to 
  20. process. Furthermore, any portion of the screen can be captured 
  21. into an icon. For those of you who have access to TWAIN devices 
  22. (i.e. scanners, digital cameras, etc.), you can even scan image 
  23. of any size directly into icons. Hard copies of icons can be 
  24. printed on any printer supported by Windows.  For a complete

  26. accessible by clicking on the Help icon from outside as well as 
  27. inside the program.

  30. the ability to convert from many different image file formats to 
  31. ICO and to extract icons from ICL, DLL, and EXE files.

  79. Run SETUP.EXE from the Explorer.  You will be asked to enter 
  80. a folder to install Icons Control 2000 (default is c:\Program 
  81. Files\Icons Control 2000).

  85. HARDWARE/SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

  87. Hardware Requirements:
  88. ╖ Any computer capable of running Window 95/98/NT/2000  
  89.   (a 486 or better is recommended).
  90. ╖ A standard VGA (a Windows-accelerated video card is 
  91.   recommended).
  92. ╖ A mouse or trackball.
  93. ╖ Any scanner supported by Windows (optional).
  94. ╖ Any printer supported by Windows (optional).

  96. Icons Control 2000 has been developed and tested on a 500 MHz 
  97. Pentium III with 256 MB SDRAM and 16 MB SGRAM AGPx2-based 
  98. Diamond Viper V770 TNT2 running Windows NT 4.0.

  100. Icons Control 2000 was also tested on the following computers:

  102. ╖ A 333 MHz AMD-K6 Compaq Presarion 1260 with 64 MB SDRAM 
  103.   and 4 MB SGRAM running Windows 2000 Professional. 
  104. ╖ A 300 MHz Pentium II with 128 MB SDRAM and 4 MB SGRAM 
  105.   AGP-based Diamond Viper V330 running Windows NT 
  106.   workstation 4.0 and Windows 98.
  107. ╖ A 120 MHz Toshiba Libretto 70CT running Windows 98.
  108. ╖ 100 MHz PCI Pentium-based computer with 16 MB of RAM and 
  109.   a 1 MB PCI-based Diamond Stealth SE running Windows 95.
  110. ╖ 150 MHz PCI Pentium-based computer with 32 MB of RAM and 
  111.   a 2 MB VRAM PCI-based Diamond Stealth Video 3200 (S3-968) 
  112.   under the above resolutions and color depth modes.

  114.   Stealth DRAM (S3-764) running Windows NT 4.0.

  141. Icons Control 2000 has not been tested in other environments 
  142. because I do not have all the time and resources in the world.

  213. SUPPORTED IMAGE FILE FORMATS

  215. In order to save storage space and download time, the install 
  216. package only contains support files for ICO, BMP, JPEG, and TIFF 
  217. which most people use most of the time.  In order to gain access 
  218. to the remaining supported image file formats, you must download 
  219. and install the "Extended Image File Format" package from our web 
  220. site.  If you order a CD, this package should be included on it.

  224. REGISTRATION
  225. ------------
  226. Icons Control 2000 is both freeware and shareware.  Freeware users 
  227. are free to use it to view, copy, mode, delete, and rename icons.  
  228. Icons Control 2000 even displays icons embedded inside DLL and EXE 
  229. files.  The displayed icons cannot be extracted, edited, or 
  230. converted.  The extraction, editing, and conversion functions are 
  231. only available in the registered versions (shareware).  There is 
  232. no evaluation period to use Icons Control 2000.  You may use it as 
  233. long as you want.  But in order to use the above-mentioned 
  234. functions, you must register to obtain the registered version.

  238. PAYMENT TERMS

  240. Registration is $29 for the Standard Edition, $44 for the Plus or 
  241. Gold Edition, and $59 for the Pro Edition.  Registered users will 
  242. receive the latest version through internet email. If you prefer 
  243. to receive the software on CD-ROM, the S&H fee is $7.  As ofthis 
  244. writing, I accept several payment methods:

  246. 1) Money orders, cashier checks, bank checks (MUST be drawn from 
  247.    U.S. banks).  I ship the product immediately upon receiving 
  248.    your order.

  250. 2) Personal checks (MUST be drawn from a U.S. bank).  I ship the

  271. After mailing me the order, I'd recommend also sending me an 
  272. e-mail notification.  This is because if I happen to be out of  
  273. town for an extended period of time (vacations, travel, etc.), 
  274. when your order arrives, it will not be processed until I return.  
  275. However, I always check my e-mail everyday, 365 days a year, so 
  276. no matter where I am on the planet, youÆll always know the status 
  277. of your order.  If this is the case, I'll send you the necessary

  281. A single user license permits a user to use Icons Control 2000 
  282. only on a single computer.  Licensed users may use the program 
  283. on different computers as long as there is no possibility of it 
  284. being used at one location while it is being used at another, 
  285. or on a network by more than one user at a time.

  287. A site license is required by a corporation, company, educational 
  288. institution, or governmental agency for use of Icons Control 2000 
  289. software on the total number of computers that will use the 
  290. software.
